A True Rock Star

Its insane that even when he was on his death bed (technically died twice). He was still just listening to the music of the other heart monitors.

"Everyone's heart machines are going at a different rate," he smiles, "you've got all these weird poly rhythms." He knows it sounds stupid, but there he was, on the brink of death, "listening to this music".

The other insane thing that I found out is that Jason Pierce doesn't know how to read or write music. For a person that is thought by many critics to be competing with radiohead to push musics boundaries. This is like saying Einstein didn't know basic algebra. Even I know how to read music and have even written a little music. My music talents are very limited since I could never understand the theory's and chords that are the next level in music. For Jason to create such complex music without knowing these basics, just shows that music is a special phenom that you are born with and can not be taught.

You can be taught to play music, can't you?

People are taught to play music all the time, no?...

Yes, people are taught how to play music, but in order to write music and play improv you must understand the theories behind music. I beleive the theories is something you will understand rather quickly or you will never figure it out. This is just my opinion, from what I have seen from other people.
